But regardless of what you are looking for in a health insurance plan, you have to make sure that you watch out for the small details. Many people get so caught up in price or coverage that they do not take the time to look over the other details that are included. And if you do not do this you may end up getting a big surprise down the road in the form of a hefty bill. So in order to avoid this, you might as well know about every detail of your plan.
Check out the following three terms of any health insurance plan before you purchase.
Deductible
Many health insurance plans have low premiums because they have a high deductible. Make sure that you know the cost of your deductible before you make a purchase. In many cases you may think that you are getting a great deal, just to find out that your deductible is very high. There is nothing wrong with a high deductible as long as you are expecting it.
Co-payment
This is the amount that you will have to pay a medical provider, such as a doctor, for each visit. Each health insurance plan will have a different co-payment.
Coinsurance
After you reach your deductible, your coinsurance is the percentage that you have to pay. For example, if your coinsurance is 20% you will be responsible for that amount, whereas your health insurance provider will take care of the other 80%.
